Apparently George Harrison once made a comment about how the Beatle’s first album took eight hours to record and the second one took even longer. In 1964, he might have spoken those words without irony, but now they sound like dry humor. Most record projects today are measured in months, not hours, and mine are no exception. Since October, I have been engaged in what might be called pre-pre-production: working out arrangements and recording rough demos at home. Last weekend the band met in the studio to rehearse and do a few takes of the songs. For the most part these are not keepers, just more pre-production, inching towards a final product. I will let you know when we get there, but don’t hold your breath. My first album took six months to record and I am guessing this one will take even longer.
